Robert Johnson (Hazelhurst)
Robert Leroy Johnson, born May 8, 1911 in Hazelhurst, Mississippi, is one of America's most infamous musicians. Though during the early days of his career he was considered to be a terrible musician with a bad run of luck, that all changed one fateful midnight near the Dockery Plantation in the Mississippi Delta, where he allegedly sold his soul to the devil in exchange for musical prowess. Going from dreadfully bad to, in the words of Keith Richards, “sounding like an orchestra all by himself.”
After that he began taking the Mississippi Blues scene by storm, even impressing veterans Son House and Willie Brown. eventually he began playing shows around the country, including Chicago, New York City. However in 1968, the devil came to pay his due and Robert Johnson died at the age of 27 due to an aneurysm
