Blues Trail Marker #7

The specific spot in the Delta Railroad town of Moorhead where the Yazoo Delta crosses the Southern Railway, Yellow Dog being a mutation of the initials 'YD'. Historian Paul Oliver (Jazz Journal, Conversation with the Blues , The Blues Come to Texas) claims that the name also may have come from a town in the Mississippi wherea  yellow mongrel would howl at passing trains.
